Shelly Aly, Admission Nurse, has been selected as our next care ambassador for her compassionate nursing skills and ability. As a front-line nurse she helps individuals understand and elect Hospice of Southern Illinois. She has been providing care with Hospice of Southern Illinois for 2 years. When we told Shelly about her acknowledgement, she was so appreciative adding, “I find working for hospice an honor.”
Shelly loves interacting with patients and their families and to find a way to make their lives better at the end of life. She wanted to share, “When I go to an admission, I like to let the family and patient know that I am not there to take away their hope, but to be a part of their lives and provide comfort measures. I always leave the patient and family with a few encouraging words. I also let them know I will be calling their name out in prayer that God will encourage and comfort them during their time of trials. I am so proud to be a part of the process of a hospice nurse. It is a very rewarding job and I am grateful for this opportunity in my life.” Her comments echo her as a recipient of our next care ambassador.
