Why Pet Therapy is Important
How many times a day do we turn on our phone, TV, or a movie and see animals? Doug the Pug, Scooby-Doo, Grumpy Cat, Dino (of the Flinstones), and many more! It’s easy to see why- animals bring comfort. Pets have a way of positively impacting many people, regardless of age. It’s why 70% of the households in America have pets! Both our Marion and Belleville teams have access to trained pet therapy dogs who work to bring comfort and companionship to our hospice patients.
Our staff, outside agencies, and volunteers work together to provide pet therapy in the assisted living and memory care facilities in our communities. Through teamwork, we’re able to bring joy to many, not just Hospice of Southern Illinois Patients.
