Jami Mattison has served as the Human Resources Director for Hospice of Southern Illinois since 2008. Jami feels that, “Having the ability to utilize my professional knowledge and experience while supporting a worthwhile need in the community is important to me. Hospice care is a commonly misunderstood level of care that is desperately needed to assist those faced with a terminal illness. Even though I do not provide direct patient care, being a part of an organization that allows loved ones to have that time to share memories, stories, and find understanding fulfills my intrinsic need to make a difference.”
Jami is “proud to be part of an organization that truly cares about its employees.” As a Human Resources professional, she feels it’s her calling to maintain excellence and integrity in employment practices to ensure all individuals are treated with respect and dignity. “There is nothing I like better that to see an employee develop and grow as an individual within the organization.”
When she isn’t at work, Jami Mattison and her husband, Tj, enjoy working their land in Grantfork, IL. They tend to plants in their retail greenhouse while caring for their four dogs, three registered mustang horses, and one cat. Jami has two favorite quotes that describe her love for her job and nature. “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are; your reputation is merely what others think you are,” by John Wooden. The second is, “When a flower doesn’t bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower,” by Alexander Den Heijer. At Hospice of Southern Illinois, we thank Jami for her hard work and helping our employees’ blossom.
