Amy Sloan has been with Hospice of Southern Illinois for 6 years. She works as a LPN in the field. Amy feels end-of-life care is a much needed service. She is given a unique opportunity to assist patients and their families through the emotional transitioning time of one’s death. Amy believes death does not have to be sad and individuals can die with dignity and pride. Hospice of Southern Illinois has the ability for patients to be comfortable in their own home and have loved ones by their side.
Amy loves being able to walk with a patient and family through their journey. She feels the last stage of one’s life is the most humbling experience. Amy shares her knowledge of the dying process. Moreover, she hopes she can alleviate the fear and suffering that often surrounds the dying process. Amy enjoys working with her co-workers at Hospice of Southern Illinois and feels they have the same mindset for their patients and families. Further, her teammates are the best nurses and staff and are always there for each other.
Amy loves to go to the Bald Knob Cross of Peace. She is reminded God is still in control and how much she needs him every day! Additionally, one of her favorite quotes is, “When I’m feeling a little low, I put on my favorite high heels to stand a little taller,” by Dolly Parton. Thank you, Amy Sloan, for always keeping our mission, to enhance the quality of life for individuals and their loved ones touched by a terminal illness, at the forefront of your care.
