Since our founding in 1981, the mission of Hospice of Southern Illinois has been to enhance the quality of life for individuals and their loved ones touched by a terminal illness. Hospice of Southern Illinois is driven by this mission and is committed to provide compassionate, excellent end of life care by ensuring our patients’ and their loved ones’ needs and wants are met or exceeded, without exception. Amy Richter, MBA, FHFMA, CPA, CGMA: President and CEO
Amy came to Hospice of Southern Illinois because she wanted to work for an organization where her “daily work would have a direct impact on making a difference in people’s lives.” She has over 30 years experience in not for profit healthcare. She graduated from Maryville University in St. Louis with an MBA and is a licensed CPA. She is inspired by Thomas Jefferson’s quote: “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.”
Elaine Matzenbacher, CPA: Chief Financial Officer
Working her entire career in not-for-profit healthcare, it was a natural fit for Elaine, an Eastern Illinois University graduate, to join Hospice of Southern Illinois’ mission. She added, “Joining Hospice of Southern Illinois’ team is an opportunity to be part of a passionate organization that is committed to excellence.” Elaine’s favorite quote, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel,” by Maya Angelou explains how she will be a good steward of our organization’s dollars, while keeping the best interest of patients and families in mind.
Floria Densmore, MSM, BSN, RN: Chief Clinical Officer
Floria attended Webster University in St. Louis and Argosy University in Nashville before coming to Hospice of Southern Illinois. She is impressed by Hospice of Southern Illinois’ high ethical commitment and is proud to be part of a not-for-profit organization that “does the right thing” for its patients, families, volunteers and employees.
Ellen Middendorf, MD: 24 Hour On-Call Medical Director
Ellen received both her undergraduate degree and her medical degree from St. Louis University and completed her residency at St. Louis University Belleville Family Practice. She came to Hospice of Southern Illinois because it allows her to “provide care to patients and families in a setting that exemplified the highest quality standards across all levels of the organization.”
